Dear SHEEO Finance Officers:
Your colleagues in Colorado are asking for your assistance. Their query:
We’ve received a legislative inquiry asking the department to explore the possibility of consolidating 10+ years of institutional financial statements into a searchable, manipulate-able database format. We think Colorado’s financial reporting process is fairly unique (I’ve attached a template and instructions for reference) but I’m wondering if any other states:
a.) Have a similar reporting process, and/or
b.) Have any experience consolidating past financial statements into a database format, and if so,
c.) Assuming the database is primarily intended for internal agency use, what degree of accessibility do external stakeholders have to the database?
Any guidance or feedback is appreciated.
