Under the direction of the Chief the
Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (Bureau) provides oversight and regulation
of private postsecondary educational institutions operating in California.  The Bureau Chief is appointed by the
California Governor, with confirmation required from the State Senate.  The Bureau, which is housed within the
Department of Consumer Affairs, has the primary responsibility of protecting
the public interest through effective and efficient administration and
enforcement of the Private Postsecondary Education Act of 2009.
