Pursuant to Governor Christie's Reorganization Plan 005-2011 http://www.nj.gov/highereducation/PDFs/005-2011.pdf) The Commission on Higher Education has been abolished, and the responsibilities, duties, and authorities of the former Commission have been transferred to the Secretary of Higher Education. Thus any institution (in- or out-of-state; public, independent, or proprietary) seeking to offer college credit-bearing coursework in New Jersey must be licensed by the New Jersey Secretary of Higher Education.
