SHEEO represents the executive officers of statewide governing and coordinating/ policy boards responsible for overseeing higher education in their state. SHEEO has 62 members representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Northern Mariana Islands. SHEEO is made up of 35 coordinating/policy boards and 27 governing boards.
Using grant funds, SHEEO has been able to support states through focused research on important issues in higher education, including state higher education funding, tuition and fees, equity, diversity and inclusion, and state postsecondary data systems.
What We Offer:
ADVOCACY AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL
We serve our members as an advocate for state policy leadership and as a liaison between states and the federal government. SHEEO also advocates the value of higher education and the critical role of state-level higher education leaders.
COLLABORATION & OPPORTUNITIES
We support members as a vehicle for collaborating with peers through the convening of constituent groups and multistate team events to share best practices and essential information, and to discuss and critique solutions.
STATE-SPECIFIC RESEARCH & DATA
SHEEO approaches many research and data projects through a state-specific lens. We serve as a source of information and analysis on educational and public policy issues, using data to drive improved outcomes.
EXCLUSIVE RESOURCES & PROGRAMMING
Member-only events, like Communities of Practice convenings, along with emails and webinars on rising issues in higher education are offered exclusively to SHEEO members. We also conduct surveys and queries of our members with findings only available to members and their staffs.
